Hi! I am selling my all original 2002 Mustang Saleen S281 number 213. I purchased it for my father for his 70th birthday in 2010 so he is 2nd owner. Clean Carfax, though it will show 3 owners, though I purchased it from the original owner, which makes me the 2nd, and gifted it to my father, which makes him the 3rd.
This car is autographed by Steve Saleen himself on the glovebox in the interior, as well on the radiator housing under the hood.
THE NUMBERS!
2002 estimate number’s with these options for that model year Saleen are:
“Mineral Gray Metallic was offered by Ford Motor Company during the 2001, 2002 and 2005 production years. It was offered with either charcoal or parchment interior colors. This one has the charcoal grey which compliements the car wonderfully. The estimate for Saleen Mustang 2002 production is 181. S281 models were completed in Mineral exterior color. Of those, 101 were S281 Supercharged models. Of those, 55 were coupes. Of those, 53 had charcoal interior. Of those, 52 had a charcoal interior. It’s always been garage covered and stored, as well as always started every month as well as driven so it doesn’t just sit there (no winter driving.)
This is the first time I’ve posted a vehicle on Online since they actually made a printed copy you could make at the gas station, so forgive me if I am leaving anything out. So feel free to ask me any questions. I have all original paperwork, including window sticker. It had 3 best of show trophies that I had placed out at a show, but accidentally ran them over. Oops! I can throw in one of my dad’s bowling or softball trophies!
Only premium fuel has been placed in the car. Never abused. The photo of 6,999 miles is original. I have no idea how I was able to capture it at that exact time. However at this time, it has a slightly higher mileage around 8k and will slightly increase as it’s listed. I will repeat this a few times, it’s ALL OEM. Doesn’t even have window tint.
The main reason selling, we both somehow have bad left knees, which makes shifting the clutch painful over some time. Plus they move to more of a retirement location, and there aren’t any car shows etc. So after close to 14 years of ownership, it’s time to see it go.
I have a video for my dad’s surprise that will keep it in my memories. Plus we moved more up north in Michigan, where again, there aren’t too many car gatherings I will speak to you as well, but my dad will as well because it means alot to me and I don’t want to have some type of breakdown on the phone haha.
There is a photo at a dealership that was having a show. It was pretty far away though. Ours was the only Saleen and all original Mustang there, which was kind of cool. We had quite a few people taking photos of it. I’ve lived out west for 20 years, so it’s weird to see American cars even though we are a family of them. It’s more exotics and imports out west.
I would say this is my favorite color, with the bright blue being a close 2nd.
I did state it’s all original, but on the bumper the letters “Saleen” are actually a decal. The muffler is a SLP exhaust, however I retained the OEM muffler tips. It adds just enough “growl” to it, without it being obnoxious. I kept everything OEM. Especially the stereo. I only buy OEM things. As soon as I see the radio has been changed out, I move on. I feel if the stereo has been changed, what else has been changed. But that’s just me!
I do have a couple extras. We’ve had the car so long, I contemplated doing some upgrades, mainly because I was bored. I’m glad I didn’t. Still has beautiful stock headlamps, But I think I purchased LED lighting and they are plug and play. Unfortunately though, I “think” they have clear corners, and not amber, so I never put them on. The 2nd, which is also plug and play, is for the rear taillights that turn them into the newer style that make them blink back and forth. I love how they do that, but again I like to keep my things OEM so I never installed them and wasn’t planning on selling it. But from the video it looks so easy and you plan on driving it a bit, I’d probably put them in. It’s just another plug and play harness. Again, it’s on youtube someplace.
I thought I mentioned it, but maybe not. I have all original paperwork. It’s in a photo, but I guess if I don’t describe it, you may not know what it is. It’s sitting on the hood. Original Manual, window sticker, and build sheet along with a couple other goodies.
Hopefully this answers most, if not all questions. But feel free to message me if not!
There is a photo, I’m unsure which one, but you’ll know it when you see it, that on the plasic behind the door it looks like a rock may have jumped up on the express way and cracked it. Other than that, that’s really the only flaw.
As the weather gets nicer, I’d like to take more photos and possibly some more video. I’m not a dealership, so besides the 1st owner, I know everything that has been done to the vehicle, especially oil changes, etc. I can also provide photos of the carfax, as I don’t think they put one up for you automatically.
It is rust free, and no joy rides. And hopefully when I get off work and my batteries are charged for the car I can update those. If you are not local and decide to have it shipped, that is not a task I can handle, so shipping will have to be arranged by you.
Payment options can be discussed as well. PayPal down payment and other methods can be discussed. No international shipping. I refuse the right to deny bids, or if the eBay auction ends early.
Thank you!
